Summit Entertainment has reportedly obtained the rights to forthcoming sci-fi novel Tempest.
The studio will adapt Julie Cross's book under the MacMillan Films banner, reports Variety.
The book centres on a teen who travels back in time and works to prevent his girlfriend's imminent death. While stuck in the past, he is recruited by a government agency run by a man thought to be his father.
The novel is the first part of a planned trilogy from Cross and publishers St. Martin's Press and Thomas Dunne Books.
Sonny Mallhi, Brendan Deneen and Roy Lee will produce the project for Summit. No director has been attached yet.
